Analysis and characterization of the goals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Contiene ilustraciones. 26 pg.[ES] Objetivo: El propósito de este estudio fue identificar las características de las acciones que preceden a la consecución de un gol en el Mundial de Qatar 2022. Métodos: Se analizaron todos los goles (198) anotados durante el Mundial de Qatar 2022 (172 en juego abierto y 26 en tandas de penaltis) mediante el sistema de análisis de video y una hoja de observación específica ad-hoc. Se analizó el momento temporal de consecución del gol, la acción previa a la consecución del gol, la superficie de contacto y última acción y el pie de golpeo en los goles anotados mediante juego abierto y de penalti. Resultados: Los resultados reflejan que el periodo con mayor número de goles anotados fue el último (30-45 min) de la primera parte (20,4%) y el gol fue anotado predominantemente en juego abierto (76,7%). Además, los equipos que anotaron el primer gol ganaron el 75,4% de los partidos. La relación entre la zona de remate y las zonas de gol mostró que la mayoría de los remates se realizan desde zonas centrales del área (83,7%) y que entran por los lados de la portería (80,2%). Conclusión: Las segundas partes y los últimos quince minutos de la primera son los momentos donde se produce un mayor número de goles, la mayoría de ellos en juego abierto, al primer toque, de interior, por parte de los delanteros y desde zonas centrales del área.[EN] Background: The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of actions preceding the scoring of a goal in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Methods: All goals (198) scored during the 2022 Qatar World Cup (172 in open play and 26 in penalty shootouts) were analyzed using a video analysis system and a specific ad-hoc observation sheet. The timing of goal achievement, the action preceding the goal, the contact surface and final action, and the striking foot in penalty goals were examined. Results: The results reflect that the period with the highest number of goals was the last of the first half (20.4%), and goals were predominantly scored in open play (76.7%). Furthermore, teams that scored the first goal won 75.4% of the matches. The relationship between the shooting zone and the goal zones showed that most shots were taken from central areas of the box (83.7%) and entered through the sides of the goal (80.2%). Conclusions: The second halves and the last fifteen minutes of the first half are the moments when the most goals are scored, mostly in open play, with first-touch shots, from inside the box, by forwards, and from central areas of the box
